We need to talk about... Power Platform... Power Platform Assessment

Next in my blog series is the walkthrough of a tool that I've been using a lot with clients recently. The tool is question is the Power Platform Assessment tool.

The tool itself is available from the following URL,

It is an evaluation tool that both individuals and organisations can use to gain insights into their Power Platform usage. The assessment aims to identify opportunities for optimising efforts and share best practices with recommendations on how teams can better leverage the Power Platform.

The assessment itself will take around 30 minutes to complete and below is a walkthrough of the screens and questions the assessment asks to produce recommendations.

The assessment starts with understanding a little about the person completing the assessment and this will dictate whether you ask between 10 and 30 additional questions

We will select the smaller set of questions that are asked if you are only interested in Admin, Governance and Support. Does your organisation have an environmental strategy in place within the organisation.

Next, the focus moves to how default environments are configured, this question is aimed at understanding whether developers have free rein to build and deploy solutions in the default environment, or whether restrictions have already been put in place.

How the organisation currently supports users is next, and the question here is aimed at how much "Technical Support" is available, or whether no resources at made available to the team.

Next up, an understanding of how well processes are defined and whether or not clearly defined processes and documentation to explain the processes exist. This aims at understanding the landscape of documented solutions.

A continuation of how processes and assets are managed in this following questions. This question aims to understand a little more about the documentation of apps, flow, cloud solutions.

The assessment now getting a little more technical and asks about the presence of DLP policies and how these are requested. This is aimed at understanding how well-defined the process for requesting environments is.

Understanding the budget for supporting Power Platform work within your organisation is the next element and this is pretty self-explanatory, without a defined budget in terms of money and resource will affect any organisation's ability to adopt.

Understanding the bandwidth within teams to support administrative tasks is the next focus of the assessment, giving the overall output an understanding of automation.

What resources are available to users in terms of training and certifications is the next element. This is a simpel Yes/No question to understand if any existing training or knowledge share has taken place.

Finally, on resources, what options are available to users to help troubleshoot their issues. This question is aimed at the existence of any pre-created materials in terms of troubleshooting resources.

Guidance is then produced with a range of options provided

Hope you all enjoyed this post on the Power Pages. I will continue this series with some additional content specifically related to Power Pages and how they work with other aspects of the Power Platform. Take Care, Speak Soon!
